One of the most important questions you need to ask when considering motorhome rental is what size of vehicle will be best for you? When considering what size will suit your rental needs, you might want to think about these “little known” facts:
Firstly, try to choose a motorhome slightly bigger than the total number of passengers – ie. if there are five people travelling, you’ll need either a six berth or even seven berth vehicle. Where’s the logic in that you ask? Surely a 4 berth motorhome is for 4 people? It is actually because almost all motor home manufacturers count the dining table as a double bed (two of the total berths). This might not be perfect for some people, depending on your set up, if you use the dining table as a bed it usually means packing up everything and everyone having to go to bed at the same time.
For instance, a typical “four berth” will mean a double bed over the cab and you make up a double bed from the dining table. In this case a family of four, with two children aged 8 and 12 for instance, would not enjoy a manufacturers idea of a four berth, because the set up it would not be practical. A better option would be to consider a slightly larger model, and a good rule of thumb is to budget an extra £50 per week for the next size (berth) up.
Please think carefully about what you are hiring and bear in mind this point about using a dinette table as a double bed!
